An National Colour Scheme and Familiar Symbol

The updated branding showcases a red, white and blue design to echo the Union Flag and will be used on locomotives, at terminals, and across its online presence.

Notably, the symbol is the iconic twin-arrow symbol historically used by National Rail and previously created in the mid-20th century for British Rail.

A Introduction Strategy

The phased introduction of the new look, which was designed internally, is expected to take place in phases.

Travellers are expected to start seeing the newly-branded trains across the network from the coming spring.

In the month of December, the design will be displayed at key stations, including Manchester Piccadilly.

A Journey to Public Ownership

The proposed law, which will enable the formation of GBR, is presently moving through the House of Commons.

The administration has said it is renationalising the railways so the system is "run by the passengers, operating for the public, not for profit."

The new body will unify the running of train services and infrastructure under a single organisation.

The government has said it will combine seventeen separate entities and "reduce the frustrating red tape and lack of accountability that continues to plague the railways."

App-Based Services and Current Ownership

The introduction of Great British Railways will also involve a comprehensive mobile application, which will let users to see schedules and book journeys free from surcharges.

Passengers with disabilities travellers will also be have the option to use the application to book help.

A number of train companies had already been taken into public control under the previous government, such as LNER.

There are currently 7 operating companies already in public control, representing about a one-third of passenger trips.

In the last twelve months, Greater Anglia have been brought into public ownership, with further franchises expected to follow in 2026.

Ministerial and Industry Comments

"The new design is not simply a new logo," stated the Transport Secretary. It symbolises "a fresh start, leaving behind the issues of the past and focused entirely on delivering a proper public service."

Industry representatives have acknowledged the pledge to enhancing services.

"We will carry on to collaborate with industry partners to facilitate a smooth changeover to GBR," one executive said.
